OLG was established in 1983 as an indigenous OLTC manufacturer with a factory in Chennai by our Director, Mr S.V. Gopalen. His experience dates back to 1967 when he started manufacturing Epoxy Castings and Fibreglass Tubes for the Switchgear and Transformer Industries. In November 1982, OLG, with In-house R&D, designed and tested the First 33 kV class, 300A external-flange-mounting oil-type coarse-fine bidirectional on-load tap changer, in accordance with IEC 60214.
In a span of over years, OLGPL has diversified its products, such as In-tank Oil Type without Vacuum and with Vacuum Divertor design up to 220 KV, Vacuum Circuit Breakers, Mini Oil Type Flange Mounting OLTCs up to 66 KV Class, Air Insulated Dry Type OLTCs, and With Vacuum technology for Dry Type OLTCs up to 33 KV Class.

OLGPL in INDIA
- Product ranges have expanded over the past 40 years to cater for customers' needs since the 1982 launch.
- Successfully supplied over 70,000 ++ OLTCs and 7500 units of VCB are installed globally.
- In the mid-1990s, OLGPL introduced the In-Tank Oil Type OLTCs and Vacuum Circuit Breakers supplied to the various utilities, followed by the introduction of Air Break OLTC for Dry Type Transformers in the early 2000s.
- In 2012, we achieved a significant milestone by launching the world's compact oil External Flange OLTC model T10 with 50 Litres of oil for the 11 KV Class Transformer suitable up to 2 MVA and the following year, we launched five mini oil-type flange mounting OLTCs in linear and coarse-fine designs for the Transformer up to 66 KV Class.
- In 2024, under the Make in India initiative, we achieved another ground-breaking milestone by launching a 245 kV, 600A IN-Tank Vacuum OLTC for the Global Market, which is KEMA-certified.
OLGPL in WORLD
- OLGPL established its first Transnational presence in 2004 by developing and supplying a single-phase load tap changer to M/S General Electric, a Fortune 500 Company. Followed by the supply of the LV bushing to them in 2006.
- In 2008, OLGPL developed an External Flange Mounting Resistance-Type Vacuum 38 KV Oil medium OLTC for M/S PROLEC-GE, WAUKESHA INC, USA (formerly known as M/S SPX Transformer Solutions INC), and over 600 units are performing successfully.
